Why this site exists

Searching for a hotel near the Pyramids is unusually frustrating. The big booking platforms measure distance from an arbitrary "Giza city centre" point that can be several kilometres from the plateau. "Pyramid view" gets applied to any property with a roof. And the genuinely good small guesthouses in Nazlet El-Semman sit buried under hundreds of listings in greater Cairo.

This directory covers one small area in detail rather than the whole country superficially. Every hotel here is within realistic reach of the Giza plateau, and every one is described with the specific facts that matter for this trip.

How we measure things

Distance is a straight-line measurement from the Great Pyramid of Khufu at 29.9792° N, 31.1342° E to the hotel's own coordinates. Straight-line rather than driving distance, because it is consistent and unambiguous — though it does mean the actual walk is usually a little longer.

Pyramid view is only marked when rooms or a guest terrace have a genuine, unobstructed line of sight to the monuments. Note that within a hotel that qualifies, most rooms usually still face the other way, so the view is worth requesting explicitly when you book.

Guest ratings are the aggregate scores from Booking.com, on their 0–10 scale, alongside the number of reviews behind each score. They are not our own scores.

Star ratings are the official classification, which reflects facilities rather than quality. A well-run four-star hotel frequently outscores a tired five-star one.

How the site is funded
